Event Description:
Join us on Wednesday, December 6 for FAFSA: A Scenario-Based Training. Erick Danielson, Vice President of Programs, from the Iowa College Access Network will be providing participants the opportunity to learn about the FAFSA, and gain understanding of how to assist students and their families in completion of the form.
Participants will work with other professionals in the field to understand common issues and misconceptions that arise when assisting students in navigating the financial aid process. The following topics will be covered through an interactive, group discussion using scenarios and real-life examples:

The following topics will be covered through an interactive, group discussion using scenarios and real-life examples:
- Current financial aid concepts, tools, and resources at the state and federal level
- FAFSA form review
- FAFSA challenges & common mistakes
- Federal and state aid eligibility
- Dependency parental information
- Financial information requirements
- FAFSA results meaning
Following the training participants will be assessed and those passing the assessment will be ICAN Certified to assist with FAFSA completion. The certification is for one year and participants will receive invites for renewal trainings from ICAN for the next three years, if interested in remaining certified.
